Dianne Lynn Forbing

July 19, 1946February 28, 2018

Dianne Lynn Slivka Forbing, 71, returned to her heavenly home on February 28, 2018 after a valiant battle with her health. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Dianne was born to the late Edward and Theresa Slivka in Cleveland, Ohio on July 19, 1946. Her family moved to Downey, California in 1953. She graduated from Downey High School in 1964 and later received a degree from Long Beach State. Dianne was blessed with a loving family. She married her best friend, John Allan Forbing, on October 4, 1969. They moved to Diamond Bar in 1976, by way of Seal Beach and Santa Ana. They enjoyed 49 years of love, travel and fine food. Their daughter, Stacy, was born on October 14, 1978. Over her 71 years, Dianne dedicated much of her time and talents as a generous and enthusiastic volunteer with many community groups and organizations, such as Western University of Health Sciences, Cal Poly Pomona, Miss Diamond Bar Pageant, and Friends of the Library. She organized and supported the fundraising for many wonderful causes, including John’s political endeavors. Dianne served as the editor of the Windmill for many years, building it from a newspaper to a magazine in her time as editor. Dianne enjoyed spending time with her friends during Bible Study Fellowship, Red Hat Society and the Diamond Bar Women’s Club. She was also actively involved at Northminster Presbyterian Church for many years. Even while battling her health issues, she found joy in so many wonderful things. Dianne enjoyed searching for a great sale at her favorite stores. She had traveled to over 39 states and 18 countries with her family and friends. Dianne loved to spend summers at the beach. She loved the feel of the warm sun on her face. Fine food was also something she enjoyed, but she was just as good at preparing it as well. However, nothing brought her as much joy as her grandchildren. Logan and Kamden were always what put that special twinkle in her eye. Dianne was a dedicated wife, cherished mother, respected mother-in-law, devoted sister, wonderful aunt and loving Nonna to her grandchildren. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. Dianne is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Stacy Harrell; son-in-law, Jim Harrell; her grandchildren, Logan and Kamden Harrell; and her sister, Nina McClain. Dianne will be cremated as per her request and her ashes will be spread into the ocean where her remains can join those of her parents. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on March 24, 2018 at 10:30 am at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Diamond Bar, 400 Rancheria Road. A lunch reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Reverend Bob Cassell will officiate the service. Contributions may be made in her name to Western University of Health Sciences, 309 East Second Street, Pomona, CA 91766. Please include in the memo line: Apply to Western Diabetes Institute.
