Darrell Wayne Edwards

Darrell “Ed” Edwards went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 22, 2023, at the young age of 66. Ed was born on January 4th, 1957 in Calgary Alberta Canada to Helene and Robert Edwards as the youngest of five children. Ed was a devoted Christian, loving husband, and an amazing father who always cared for and put others before himself. Ed is survived by his caring wife of 30 years, Reneé and his children: eldest daughter Rachel (John), eldest son Nicholas (Tori), youngest son Jacob (GiGi), youngest daughter Danielle (Kyle), as well as his adopted son Corey (Sam). As well as his 11 grandchildren: Adler (13), Jack (10), Ember (9), Delaney (9), Marley (6), Indie (6), Ren (3), Kash (3), Lennon (2) and two others who are due very soon! Aside from his family, Ed’s greatest devotion was to his country which led him to join the Navy in 1976 at the age of 19, serving as a helicopter engine mechanic. He spent his next few years as an arborist before he went to serve his country again as a civil servant working on all aircraft at NARF/NADEP. Ed also spent many years serving the Lord working for Atlantic Shores Baptist Church and Schools. Ed then felt a calling to return to civil service where he ultimately retired in 2022. Ed fought an amazing fight with the help and support of his family, his amazing medical team at Duke University, as well as the love and kindness of the Caring House in Durham, NC. He became known as superman to his family for fighting tirelessly until the end. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whom he truly touched throughout his very memorable life. His loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest and giving back to those who helped him. Ed will be honored with a celebration of life at a later date.
