OBITUARY
Linda Gail Floyd Fears
March 19, 1944 – February 1, 2023

Linda Gail Floyd Fears, Ph.D, passed away peacefully at her home in Tallahassee, Florida on the first of February 2023. She was attended at her bedside by Randall, her husband of 56 years, and their son Derek.
A native of Jackson County, Linda was born to James and Mildred Floyd in 1944. Following Mildred's death from cancer, Linda was fostered by Arthur and Norma Jensen of Greenwood, Florida, and she remained close to her foster family in subsequent years.
Linda and Randall graduated together from Greenwood High School, and both received Masters degrees in education from Florida State University. They were married in 1966 and began teaching in north Florida, where Derek was born in 1971. They moved to Ethiopia in 1978, teaching at the International Community School in Addis Ababa, where Derek attended 2nd grade. After working and traveling in Africa and Greece, they returned to Florida, where Linda received her doctorate from FSU in statistical evaluation and measurement.
In 1984, Linda was permanently disabled following a car accident, and Randall took care of her for the rest of their lives together. Linda remained an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, corresponded with colleagues and friends, and drew upon the undying support of her brother and sister, Roland and Carolyn, and all of her extended family.
To all those who knew her and returned her love, we are forever grateful. We commend her memory to you in the spirit of renewal and joy.
