OBITUARY
Douglas Arthur Swank
March 5, 1925 – January 23, 2023

Douglas Arthur Swank, 97, of Bremerton passed away on January 23, 2023 in Silverdale, Washington. He was born in Portland, Oregon on March 5, 1925.
A dedicated and decorated US Marine, he served in both World War II (the Okinawa invasion) and Korea.
After graduating college he went to work as an electrical engineer at NASA, Boeing, Honeywell and Hewlett Packard, throughout his long and varied career. While at NASA he was a key component in creating the Hubble Telescope.
An avid golfer, he achieved many awards, included the coveted “hole in one”, more than once. Equally he won many awards for his photographic excellence. As a mentor, consultant and colleague, he drew many accolades, continuing even into retirement.
He will be inurned at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl Cemetery) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Arrangements are under the direction of Neptune Society.
Doug will be dearly missed by his many friends, especially Dixie Deeter and Dale Swearingen
