Obituary of Sandra Jean Nachtsheim
Sandra Nachtsheim passed away peacefully in her home on March 7, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born on February 13, 1942, to Walter (Walt) and June Stanghill in Helena, MT. Sandra grew up in East Helena as the second born in a family of seven siblings. In 1964 Sandra married George Nachtsheim, settling down in the Spokane area in 1970, where they enjoyed spending the last 53 years raising their four children. Sandra was known for her quick wit and zest for life. All her friends and family would agree that she enjoyed her life, living it to the absolute fullest. She loved cooking, bowling, and the performing arts. She was also a worldly traveler, enjoying trips to Hawaii, Germany, Australia, and everywhere in between. One of her favorite trips that she took every year for over 30 years was going to Las Vegas with her family to watch the Superbowl. She always seemed to have an extra bit of luck at the casinos. Closest to her heart though was always her family. She was a wonderful homemaker for her children and grandchild with some of her most cherished times with her family being spent fishing at the family cabin on Tacoma Creek. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Walt and June Stanghill, her sister Evelyn Hansen, and her brother Robert Stanghill. She is survived by her husband of 58 years George Nachtsheim; her brothers Charles (Char) Stanghill, Tommy Stanghill, and Curt (Mary) Stanghill; her children Stuart (Shawna) Nachtsheim, Cameron Nachtsheim, Lani (Ryan) Nachtsheim, and Malecka Nachtsheim; and her granddaughter Isabelle (Jeremy) Nachtsheim. In keeping with Sandra’s generous spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of her favorite charities: Vanessa Behan Crisis Center, Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots, or any other that is of importance to you. No funeral services are planned, but there will be a celebration of life in the spring.
