Obituary of Jeffrey Craig Boatwright
Jeffrey Craig Boatwright, October 28, 1959 – May 18, 2023 Craig was never one to leave a task unfinished, and though for us it seems too soon, he has completed his final task. Craig was true to himself to the end. In a house full of loved ones, Craig, quietly, slipped away in the early morning hours. Craig placed much of his identity in his work as a 30 year member of Champion Crane. He worked well with his hands, and never accepted less than one’s best effort and complete commitment to the task at hand. Craig had no patience to have anything explained to him, but all one had to do was to place the object or problem into his hands and he could dismantle it and put it back together with the problem solved. Perhaps this is too serious a picture of Craig. All those near and dear to him will remember, fondly, his mischievous side: his love of motorcycles, his willingness to be “a bit” reckless while riding, his ability to seek out fun, and the many resulting injuries. His devotion was endless and impossible to break. He remained Bob’s, his father, son even with many years between today and Bob’s passing, and even in his final days, he had the quite strength and intelligence of his mother, Gail. In the same fashion Craig’s three children, shared with Robbie Boatwright, his daughter, Kyle, and two sons, Jeff and Jack, will forever be their father’s child, each in their own way. Craig is survived by his three children, his mother, and his sister, Pam. His many friends and family members will be comforted by their memories of sports played, work completed, his many lectures on his love of Bob Dylan, tough days sustained, and laughs had. Though we’d rather keep him here with us, it’s time for us to say goodbye to the “Tugboat,” and set his inland soul to sea. In lieu of flowers, Craig asked for donations to be made in his name to The Autism Society or American Cancer Society.
