Richard David Reese

Richard David Reese passed away on January 30, 2023 in Ivins, Utah, after a long illness brought about by exposure to agent orange during his military service. Richard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 18, 1948 to Richard Ralph Reese and Lilly Mackey Reese. They were filled with joy to welcome their first born in those early years after WWII. Richard had a wonderful childhood including many good memories of time spent with grandparents and relatives both in Scofield, Utah and on F Street in the Avenues of Salt Lake. Richard was drafted in the army in 1968 and was sent to Korea. After returning home, he married Rita Couch Reese on June 27, 1972. They were happily married for 50 years. Richard is survived by his wife Rita and their beloved daughter Rachel Reese Atkinson (Jarrod) and three grandsons, Aidan, DeMetrie, and Sawyer. He is also survived by his four siblings, Neil Reese (Kathy), Vicki Reese Wilson (Terre), Mary Sue Hortin (Howard), and Roger Reese (Lisa). Richard will be remembered for his fun sense of humor. He made us smile. And he will also be remembered for Twinkies – always willing to share his stash of this treat with the children in his life. He enjoyed music and would buy albums by his favorite artists as soon as they became available. Richard was a fantastic garage mechanic too. He loved to work on cars as a young adult especially his Impala and Chevelle. Richard deeply loved his family and was loved in return. There will be no funeral service at his request. The family would like to thank the staff at the Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah for all their loving care of Richard in his final days.
