Duane Shannon Mason

July 13, 1959February 7, 2019

Duane S. Mason, age 59, of Willowick went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronnie and Patricia Mason, and his only brother Darrell L. Mason. His immediate family has now been unified once again in heaven. Duane is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Karen (Scharler) Mason, his two beloved children, Jessica Tramontozzi (Joseph) of Mentor, and Alexander Mason of Osaka, Japan, very special PaPa to Austin, Hailey, and Leonardo Tramontozzi. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Duane worked for the Lake Metro parks System before getting ill, where he thoroughly enjoyed working outdoors in nature everyday with "the best crew" ever.

Duane was extremely creative and artistic. He loved to work with his hands to create sculptures made of many different kinds of exotic hard woods. He also sang and played guitar in his earlier years, writing many beautiful songs and poems.

Duane was baptized in Christ as a teen, and committed his whole life to knowing the Lord on a personal basis. He specifically devoted his last years on earth to "advertising" his personal relationship with his Jesus. By adorning himself with the many religious hats and crosses he owned out in public, he would pray it would spark meaningful conversations with people in need. Duane had a very gentle, kind, sweet spirit and was a loving devoted servant of God. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

In his free time, Duane loved to attend his men's bible study group on Friday mornings at Denny's. He also loved to have lunch with friends and family members, play chess, and play his video games.

A memorial service to celebrate Duane's life is scheduled for Saturday, February 16th at the Prince of Peace church on 306 in Mentor. The family will accept visitors from 2-4pm, service will start at 4pm.
