Obituary of Lillian D Pierce
Lillian Diehl Pierce, 99, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 in the Complete Care of Laurelton nursing home in Brick, NJ being there since August 2022. She lived with her daughter and husband six years prior. Predeceased by husband John W. Pierce and parents John Jacob Diehl and Ruth Wilson Diehl. She was one of eight children, two who are still living, Michael Diehl of New Jersey and Eleanor Martin of Florida. Also survived by two children, Ellen Bailey and husband Gerard Bailey of Brick, NJ and William Pierce of Spokane, WA. Three grandchildren John Rehak, Ohio; Iverlee Ciancitto, Toms River; Neil Pierce, WA. Six great grandchildren Jamie, Christian, Lauren, Zoey, Willow and Zaylie many nieces and nephews and friends whom she loved. Lillian graduated Asbury Park High School, lived in Bradley Beach. During World War II she worked at Telephone company in Asbury Park NJ. They sent her to California for a short while. Was a den mother in Boy Scouts while living in Wall Twp., a waitress and bar tender at Spring Meadow golf and Country Club in Allaire, school cafeteria lady. Had also lived in Levitown, PA. Upon retirement moved to Florida. They traveled the U.S. in a RV. It inspired song “On the Road Again” by Willie Nelson. After husband passed she went overseas to Spain and Portugal and on some cruises to Bahamas. During her life was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Asbury then Presbyterian Church in Ft. Myers FL where actively involved in church groups, also attended All Faiths then St. Thomas in Brick. Favorite hymn, “The Old Rugged Cross.” She loved to read books, liked songs “Younger than Springtime” and “Moon River.” There were two home health aide caregivers whom we all thank, and all employees at hospitals, nursing home, and Hospice who showed care and kindness. She was a fighter even ‘til the end. Feisty!! No service at this time.
