OBITUARY
Louise Annette Bennett
December 21, 1943 – December 17, 2022

Louise Annette “Peachy” Bennett, 78, of St. Petersburg, Florida is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Shannon & Edwin Bailey, grandson Trey Bailey, and siblings Don Bennett, Patricia Zayas, Betse Cordell and Mark Bennett and their families. Her son Dirk Armstrong predeceased her in April 2022. She is also missed by nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Louise was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to St Petersburg with her family in 1957. She attended Meadowlawn Middle School and graduated from Northeast High School in 1961. She was an active member of her Class of ’61 Alumni group and helped plan many reunions over the years. As an adult, she lived in New Mexico, Alabama, Wyoming, Missouri, Colorado and Kansas.
After relocating back to St Petersburg in 1979, Louise was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter for many years, as well as Faith Covenant Church, settling back at St. Peter’s in 2010. She retired from the City of St Petersburg in 2003 and devoted much of her time to volunteering, including ushering at the Palladium and St Petersburg City Theatre, and supporting her daughter’s GFWC projects.
Louise was a gifted seamstress and crafter, serving in St. Veronica’s Needlework Guild at St. Peter’s, and knit and donated caps for preemies and cancer patients, as well as creating “twiddle muffs” for dementia patients. Friends and family received custom made jewelry rolls, tissue packs, sticky note holders and other crafts made with love. She was a welcome addition to the Winston Park community when she moved there in 2017.
She was known as Louise, Peachy or Sis, depending on where one had met her, and will be remembered by all for her kindness, friendliness, encouraging words and peachy disposition. She was thoughtful, great at sending cards, and enjoyed being around people but never tried to be the center of attention. She loved spending time with her family and traveled with them extensively, visiting all 50 states, more than two dozen countries and five continents. Her grandson Trey, 23, was the “sunshine” of her life.
A Celebration of Life Service for Louise will be held on Sunday, January 15th, 2023 at her church, the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter (140 4th St N in St Petersburg) at 1pm followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity in Louise’s memory.
