Stephen Peter Lukovits

On September 16, 2022 Stephen Peter Lukovits passed this earth and into arms of his Savior. He was born on October 13, 1936 to Margaret and Stephen Lukovits in Astoria NY. Soon after, he moved with his parents and siblings, Elizabeth and Frank, to a small rural town in upstate New York called Hoags Corners. He was educated in the Lebanon, NY schools graduating High School in 1954. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he was a Navy Corpsman. He was also stationed with the Marines as a Corpsman. He was honorably discharged in 1958. He worked as a house painter with his father until he was hired as the Superintendent of Park Lane Apartments in Menands NY. He was a volunteer Fireman in Hoags Corners and later in Menands where he raised in ranks to Fire Chief and the Town of Colonie where he was Car 8 in charge of the Fire Police.He loved travelling on the Hudson River going from Albany to Long Island Sound on his beloved boat the "Nautigal". He kept the boat at Shady Harbor Marina where he was Commodore of the Awenke Yacht Club. Upon his retirement he went to work for the Hertz Corporation as a transporter at the Albany Airport and later after moving to Connecticut doing the same thing at Bradley Airport where he worked until his passing. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara Michne Lukovits, his three sons Joseph, James and Michael, grandsons Joshua and Jason and least we forget his constant companion Bishop who dearly misses him. Funeral services will be on October 13 in Averill Park NY at St Henry's RC Church with a Visitation at 11AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon followed by burial in St Henry's Cemetery.
