Obituary of Joan Frances Giantonio
Joan F. (Nielsen) Giantonio Born in Hartford, CT, December 12,1938 passed away June 27th, 2022 at her home with her 3 sons by her side. She was the daughter of Edward Nielsen and Margaret Flanagan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Kim Czarnecki Blair and brother Frank Nielsen. She is survived by her 3 Sons and their spouses, Keith and Deb Czarnecki of Old Lyme, Jeff & Stephanie Giantonio of New Hartford, Greg & Shivaun Giantonio of Deep River, son in law Jim Blair and her Sister Katherine Nielsen of Boston Ma. She is also survived by HER CHERISHED GRANDCHILDREN WHO WERE THE LIGHT OF HER EYES, Emily & Adam, Eliana & Logan, Paul,Amelia & Frank who she loved with all her heart along with numerous nieces & nephews. She also loved dearly, her faithful, loyal pet labrador, Sassi. Ma / Nannie was the architect, engineer and designer of “LIFE” teaching our family the importance of integrity, morals, human decency, common sense, respect for others, personal responsibility, accountability and finally the extreme importance of family & American U.S. patriotism! When She was diagnosed 13 years ago with cancer right wrong or indifferent, she opted not to show pity but, instead reinstated her steadfast commitment to being available as long as the “good lord” would allow and as long as physically possible to be the family advisor especially to her grandchildren as they grew along with her entire family & many many close friends as she had done all of her life! Joan's Memorial will be held in the fall and will be extended to family and friends at a future date.
