Obituary of Lyle E Babbitt
Lyle Edward Babbitt, 81, of Mt. Washington, passed away Sunday, January 29, at his home. Lyle joined the United States Navy in 1959 at the age of 18. Lyle served in the Navy as a corpsman and was deployed to Vietnam. His second tour in Vietnam as a Navy corpsman had him attached to a Marine unit. After he returned safely home, he enlisted in the Army and served a third tour in Vietnam. Lyle made a career of the Army and retired in 1988. He then went back to college, earned a degree in computer programming and had a second career as a programmer working for the U.S. Calvary Store and the Kentucky Lottery where retired again in 2002. Lyle “Papa” will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor, love of bluegrass music, playing of his harmonica and singing the songs to his grandchildren that his parents use to sing to him. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Luella, and his three brothers, Jim, Arthur and Larry. Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Tyna, daughter Michelle (Chad) Hall of Victoria, TX, daughter Nancy (Keith) Rowland of Georgetown, son Lyle (Ayrin) Babbitt, Jr. of Mt. Washington and five granddaughters, Natasha, Ella, Georgia, Presley and Kendall. A private graveside service will be held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
