Thomas Abbott Mallynn March 25, 1940 – March 14, 2023 Manvel, TX Tommy (Tom) Mallynn was born on March 25, 1940 with the heart of a lion and unrelenting determination. In his eighty-two years on this earth, he packed more than a lifetime of adventures, travel, and achievements. As a young man he hitched his future to a ship and joined the Navy to see the world. Not getting enough of the world in his 4-year hitch in the Navy, he promptly joined the Merchant Marines and continued his quest visiting Korea, Hong Kong, Greece, Germany, India, Ireland, France, Scotland, Switzerland, Austria, England, Wales and Italy. Some men, wistfully dream their dreams. Tommy willed each of his dreams into reality. After years as a machinist, he opened his own successful business, Mechanical Dynamics, Inc. and worked there until his retirement in 2005. He became a Scottish Rite Mason in 1977 and became a Shriner the same year. Twice, he was elected Captain of the Arabia Patrol and was Potentate of the Houston Arabia Shrine in 2005. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Effie Pearl Mallynn and Father Charles Mallynn, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sheila Mallynn; sister, Linda Mallynn Tisdale brother, Charles Mallynn III; and children, Lara Mallynn, Tara Mallynn (husband Brian Labelle), Heather Mallynn Komasa Bargas (husband Roque Bargas), and Kristopher A. Mallynn (wife Irish A. O'Sullivan). Grandchildren include: Ian and Wyatt Komasa, Trinidad, Tristan, Taryn, and Taddius Bargas, Matthew Mallynn, and Mara O’Sullivan., Nephews and Niece. Thomas Mallynn passed away peacefully with grace, dignity, integrity, and courage on March 14, in Manvel, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Houston.
