OBITUARY
Melba N. Gerry
January 31, 1931 – March 14, 2023

Melba Nedean Gerry (Lowery), age 92, passed away on March 14, 2023 in League City, Texas.
She was born on January 31, 1931 in Winfield, Louisiana to Elbert Madison Melton and Wife, Martha Caroline Walker. Melba was brought up in Jonesboro, LA and graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1948.
Melba was married to Arthur W. Lowery for 30 years. After Arthur passed away, she was married to Edward Allen Gerry for 30 years. She owned a boutique/hair salon in Sugar Creek, TX.
Melba enjoyed traveling, shopping, going on cruises, going to lots of auctions and hosting big parties. I think her biggest accomplishment was building her and Al’s home on Verdant way in Houston, TX with their own hands and decorated it with all the things she had procured at the auctions. Her home in Sugar Creek was featured in the lifestyle section of the Houston Chronicle on November 14, 1976. She was very proud of that accomplishment.
Mel’s loves for animals was uncanny but her favorite were dogs. She had many throughout her life, most of which she rescued.
She is survived by her siblings: Prentis “Bud” C. Knotts and Martha “Judy” Knotts.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Carolyn Knotts Brow; Siblings: Irvin I. Farmer, Susie Farmer Morrow, Patricia “Ruth” Hornsby, E.M. “Mac” Melton and Aulton “Woody” Knotts Jr.
