Obituary of Glenn Howard Goebel
IN LOVING MEMORY OF GLENN HOWARD GOEBEL SR. Glenn Howard Goebel Sr., was called home March 16, 2023, in Pasadena, Texas. He was born to Gus Henry Goebel and Emma Isabelle (Zinglemann) Goebel in Port Arthur, Texas on July 19, 1925. Glenn attended Thomas Jefferson High School where he played football and assisted in teaching classes. There, he also met his bride, Ethel Mae Burke and they married December 23, 1944. In 1945, Glenn enlisted in the Army during World War II and was honorably discharged due to a severe knee injury. He returned to work in Port Arthur refineries until he and his family moved to Houston, to enroll 3 of his 6 children in the Houston School for the Deaf. Eventually, the children advanced and moved to Austin and attended Texas School for the Deaf. Glenn remained at work for USI Chemical Co. in Deer Park, Texas. Glenn loved hunting, boating, watching his boys race motocross, and camping. There were many hours of outdoor family time. Glenn’s parents previously passed from this earthly life, along with his siblings; Beatrice Ward, Grace Wueller, and James Goebel. However, Ethel, his wife of 78 years and six children Glenn Jr. and wife, Mary; Phyllis and husband, Clifford Mueller; Nancy Richardson and John Money; Fred; George, and wife, Jeannette; and Donald, and wife, Evon remain here in service along with grandchildren; Glenn III, Jeremy, Andrea, Troy, Kimberly, Catherine, Ashley, and Calvin and thirteen great grandchildren.
