Obituary of Darlene Lydia Bintzler
Darlene Lydia (Bierbaum) Bintzler, 86 was welcomed to heaven by a host angels, friends and family on November 15, 2022. Born May 30, 1936 in Rochester, MN tagging along with her twin brother Donald. Married to James Erwin Bintzler (2014) for fifty-five years living in in Wauwatosa, WI. Darlene was preceded in death by her siblings Joan, Leota and Donald, and husband Jim. She is survived by brother Ray (Kay) Bierbaum; sons Steve (Corlene) Bintzler and Mark Bintzler; daughter Karen (Kent) Sanders and grandchildren Nicole and Kolin Sanders. Darlene retired from Northwestern Publishing in 2002. Darlene moved to Overland Park, KS in 2015 where she made room in her Packers heart for the hometown Chiefs. Darlene came into her own in her years in Overland Park, enjoying an active and autonomous life. She enjoyed daily power walks with friends, family and Charlie the Ridgeback. She formed close friendships through cards, knitting, needlepoint and volunteering to help others through Church of the Resurrection, Leawood. Darlene and her Sorrento friends bested Covid with “Social Distanced” Friday wine nights on folding chairs in their driveways. An avid card player Darlene had many standing card nights with friends at Sorrento Apartments, and countless nights playing cards with Karen, Kolin and other friends and family around the Sanders family table. Darlene was a kind soul who never met a stranger, never said ‘no’ to an adventure, and was always eager to volunteer to help others. Darlene never left home without her smile, which was infectious. She was active and independent until the end. Darlene was authentic and left a positive impression with everyone she met. She will be missed. Friends are welcome to join family at Darlene’s memorial celebration on Friday, November 18th, 10 AM at the Firestone Chapel, Building B. South Entrance, Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, KS. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Church of the Resurrection Foundation or a charitable organization of your interest.
