Christian W Rayner

June 18, 1928January 28, 2023
Chris Rayner, 94, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2023, with loved ones by her side. Chris was born on June 18th, 1928, in Selkirk, Scotland. At the age of 20, Chris traveled by ship to Auckland, New Zealand, and began working at the local hospital. While living in New Zealand, she met the love of her life, Brett Rayner. They later married on February 19th, 1955, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Hampton Court, England. They raised three children – Clive, Jenny, and Brett. Chris was also a loving grandmother to Dennis, Christine, Lewis, and Mark, and a great grandmother to Suri and Ashlyn. She was a very big part of all of their lives. Chris devoted her life to her family. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were young adults. Chris and her husband Brett owned rental properties for many years in the South Florida area. Chris also dedicated two days per week as a volunteer at North Broward Hospital visiting patients and taking care of sick children. When Chris was not volunteering or managing their rental properties, she was spending every free moment with her grandchildren. After retiring, they did extensive traveling around the world, visiting over 50 countries. Some of their most memorable trips included walking the Great Wall of China, exploring the pyramids in Egypt, and climbing Ayres Rock. Chris often said that although she has wonderful memories of their travels, and the friends they made along the way, her most cherished memories are those she made with her children and grandchildren. She would also say there is nothing more important than family, and that she had a very fulfilling life because of her family and friends. Later in life, you would find Chris playing cards, drinking tea, and sharing memories with her dearest friends and family. Chris will be remembered for her great sense of humor, love for her family, and big heart. Chris is survived by her husband Brett, children – Clive (Anne), Jenny (Dennis), Brett (Uncha), and grandchildren – Dennis (Ansley), Christine, Lewis (Jennifer), and Mark (Priscila). Chris’ family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Waterfront Park in Palm Coast, FL. The address for Waterfront Park is 150 Waterfront Park Road, Palm Coast, FL, 32137. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.neptunesociety.com/location/jacksonville-cremation for the Rayner family.
