Obituary of Lana Gail Hoffer
Celebrating the Life of Lana Gail Hoffer On Friday, September 9, 2022, Lana Gail Hoffer, loving wife, mother, friend and proud Nana passed away at the age of 78. Lana was born on October 21, 1943 in Austin, Texas to Charlie and Yvonne Barnard. She was the 2nd of 2 children. After her mother died in 1958 when Lana was 15, her father was eventually remarried to Ruth Stewart of Austin creating a blended family of 6. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin in 1961 followed by attending The University of Texas where she earned a degree in Business and Finance. Lana loved the city of Austin, but found her way to Dallas, Texas where she began working in the field of bonds and commodities and subsequently met the love of her life, Robert Anthony Hoffer. They were married on July 22, 1967 and shortly after moved to Houston, Texas where they together raised their two daughters, Wendy and Angie. Obtaining her broker’s license, Lana had a long and dedicated career with the brokerage firm Dain Rauscher, formally known as EF Hutton for over 40 years. In her younger years, when not managing other people’s money, Lana enjoyed the game of tennis, playing bridge, lunching with friends, going to the movies, staying active at the gym, and watching as much baseball as possible. She loved the Houston Astros! After retirement, her best and most favorite title of all was Nana. She loved spending time with her three grandchildren and attending the numerous activities they were involved in. Lana was quiet and reserved in many ways, but she was a tremendous and loyal friend to those she truly connected with. Lana was proceeded in death by her parents, brother David Barnard and husband Robert Hoffer. She is survived by her two daughters Wendy (Daniel) Toups and Angie (Brian) Roberts, grandkids Meagan, Gabriel and Emily. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization near and dear to their daughter’s hearts. Donations can be made in Lana's honor below.
