Obituary of John Robert Kaylor
John Robert (Bob) Kaylor 81 of The Woodlands, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep just before noon, on Friday March 3, 2023 surrounded by loving family members and close friends. Bob was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 17, 1941 to Irene Schmude Kaylor and John Joseph Kaylor. He grew up in a lively household as the youngest of 4 older siblings where there was never a dull moment. In 1958, he joined the Army and served 4 years specializing in military communications. Once discharged, he set out on a new adventure and drove his Austin Healey from Anchorage, Alaska to Birmingham, Alabama to attend Samford University. After college, with the promise of a job waiting for him, he moved back to Pittsburgh where he met Constance (Connie) Chaney and married on April 16, 1966. The couple soon started a family with the arrival of Christine in 1969, followed by Robert in 1973. In 1978, he moved his family to Texas where he enjoyed an extensive and distinguished career as a piping designer for Dow Chemical, Brown and Root and other Engineering firms in Houston. Bob loved working on all the many cars he had over the years and various handyman projects. He could spark up a conversation with anyone and never met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a treasure trove of knowledge. One of his greatest passions was genealogy. He had a knack for researching and loved sitting at the computer and pulling up photos and clippings from the past. Bob is preceded in death by his loving mother Irene Schmude, his father John Kaylor, his sisters, Edna Koethe, Joan Stahlhut and brothers Ralph (Bud) Kaylor, and Cloyd (Jerry) Kaylor, and his son-in-law Robert Vecera. Bob is survived by his wife Constance Kaylor and his daughter, Christine Vecera, son, Robert Kaylor and wife Summer Kaylor. Also, 5 grandchildren, Maria Vecera, Jonathon Hardy, Chance Vecera, Dakota Vecera, and Autumn Kaylor and a great granddaughter Ariana Vecera. Bob also enjoyed spending time with his many wonderful nieces and nephews. Please join family and friends to celebrate his life on April 1, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church at 3801 S. Panther Creek Dr, The Woodlands, TX.
