Carolyn Jo Shannon

Carolyn “Jo” Shannon died peacefully January 23, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, The Reverend Carl Steen Shannon, Jr., and their sons and daughter, David, Leah, Michael, Mark, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was born July 11, 1936, in St. Louis Missouri, to George and Virginia Staton. An English major and Rotunda Beauty at SMU, she married Carl in 1956 and was by his side ever since. Carl and Jo lived in many places including Houston, Huntsville, Austin, Brenham and Wharton, Texas; San Jose Costa Rica; Arecibo and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; Dearborn, Michigan; and Mexico City, DF, Mexico. She continued her education to become a Certified Social Worker and worked in hospice and child advocacy. She was full of love for everyone. She will be remembered for her love and her smile. Services for Jo will occur Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 3785 Barker Cypress, Houston, TX 77084.
