Judyth R Barr
February 16, 1933 – January 25, 2023

Judyth Ann Riggs Barr was born on February 16, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the only child of M. Geraldine Edison and Lowell Edward Riggs. She grew up in South Bend, Indiana, where she met her future husband, William Evans Barr. She attended Bowling Green State University and later served as President of the Chi Omega Alumnae Association, organizer, and first Chairman of their state convention, Chi-O-hio Day. Judy was an enthusiastic supporter of the Columbus Museum of Art and served as President of Beaux Arts, the creative branch of museum supporters.
She was an active volunteer in the Westerville community, serving the schools in several capacities, including being one of the early “soccer moms.” Judy and her husband were Co-Presidents of the Amalthea Historical Society, which preserves the history of Central College. When she returned to the workplace, she was the Administrative Services Manager for Physicians Insurance Company of Ohio. Her interests included home decorating, gardening, creative writing, attending the theatre, taking in strays, and genealogical research. Her first love was family affairs and linking her grandsons to First Families of Ohio - "Ordinary people creating a state and a nation with a clear vision and hard work.”
Judy is survived by her husband, Bill of 64 years. (Married 12-27-58)
The family carries on: Judy is survived by her husband Bill and her two sons and their families: Bryan and Lynda Meyer Barr of Westerville and their sons Maxx and Beck, Riggs (Brad) and Christina Orban Barr of Denver, and their sons Cooper and Rowdy.
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
