Judith K Graves
April 1, 1947 – November 7, 2022
Judith Kay (Peterson) Graves was born on April 1, 1947 in Seattle, King County, Washington to Myron Pete and Helen Louise (Gill) Peterson. In 1965, Judy K. graduated from Shoreline High School in Seattle. She took a physical to attend a community college. She was found to have heart problems and was told to take it easy the rest of her days and never have any babies. She said that was not her way. She did go to community college and worked for a fireplace company before going to work at AT&T in the computer department in Seattle. While there, she joined a ski club and a ballroom dance club. Judy K. had a lifelong love of horses and would ride every chance she could. One day while attending her dance club, she met Dale Edwin Graves. After a couple of dates, she asked Dale if he would take square dance lessons with her. He had already taken two sets of lessons before, but he said that he would. Judy K. and Dale spent many years square dancing and ballroom and line dancing. About three years after meeting, she was united in marriage to Dale Edwin Graves on June 23, 1973. To this union they were blessed with two children. In 1988, she had open heart surgery. Her aorta was replaced with one made of Teflon and they inserted a metal valve into her heart. In a quiet room, you could hear it working. She took an afternoon nap on November 7, 2022 at her home in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington and never woke up. 911 was called, medics came and worked on her for over 35 minutes. A Memorial Service for Judy Kay Graves will be held at 1:00 p.m. PST, on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Cascades View Covenant Church in Vancouver, Washington with Pastor Jim Sequeira officiating. Per Judy K’s request, cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Ronald Dean Peterson (1978) and Clarence Allen Peterson (2009). Judy K. is survived by her husband, Dale of Vancouver; her children, Michael Edwin Graves (Stacey), and Heather Kay Graves, never married; two brothers; Dennis Roy Peterson (Cindy) and their family and Duane Rodney Peterson (Juli) and their family; five grandchildren by Michael and Stacey, Kaitlyn Taylor, Nathaniel Scott, Brooklyn Grace, Jackson David and Ashlyn Jane. Judy K. would want any memorial contributions made to St Jude Hospital.See more See Less
