Obituary of Bradley Dale Bauman
In Loving Memory Bradley (Brad) Bauman passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023 at the age of 87 in Oakdale, Minnesota. Brad was born to Theodore and Mary (Marie) Bauman on October 4, 1935 in Rock Valley, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Delores (Dee) Gayer, on August 5, 1956 in Rock Valley. He attended Iowa Teachers College (now University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls, Iowa and played both baseball and basketball for the school. He graduated with a Physical Education Degree and played minor league baseball for several years on the Rock Valley Baseball Team. He started his career as a teacher and a coach in Rock Valley. He eventually changed career paths and took over farming on Dee’s family farm. After farming for over 20 years, Brad started a new career in hospital administration at a local hospital in Rock Valley. He then moved to a hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Later, he worked as the clinic administrator for a group of cardiologists in North Sioux City, Nebraska who eventually moved their whole practice to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After about 20 years of hospital administration, Brad made the decision to retire. He and Dee moved to Surprise, Arizona to enjoy their retirement years in the sunshine, warmth, and to live close to Spring professional baseball training so they could attend as many games as they wanted. Brad had many passions including playing golf, participating in fantasy baseball leagues, listening to a wide variety of music, and watching sporting events; especially those of his grandchildren. He will be remembered by many as a mentor, spiritual advisor, and loyal friend. Most of all, Brad was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandpa/great grandfather. He loved his family more than anything. Brad was active in his church and did not miss a service. Even in their later years, he and Dee never missed watching the weekly Lord of Life services online. His faith was very important to him. Brad was preceded in death by his wife, Dee, on June 6, 2022. After her death, Brad moved to Oakdale, Minnesota to be closer to family. He is survived by his three daughters, Kim (Andy) Hawekotte , Karri (Ken) Kerns and Karla Bauman; six grandchildren, Keenan Hawekotte, Sydney Hawekotte, Megan (Kaytlyn) Kerns, Ashley (Kristen) Capen-Kerns, Dakota (Shannon) Farquhar-Caddell, and Jax Caddell; and six great grandchildren, Huxlee, Atlas, Ryko and Maze Farquhar-Caddell and Kayden and Blakely Kerns. His ashes will be interred in the Lord of Life Lutheran Church Columbarium in Sun City West, Arizona on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Saint Joseph’s Indian School, which was Brad’s favorite charity. (www.stjo.org)
