Victoria Jayne Rider

Victoria Jayne Rider, 80, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 27, 1943. Vicki, as she liked to be called, graduated from Bosse High School. She went on to study at Indiana University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in physical education while serving as a member of the Varsity cheerleading team, as well as the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was married to Joseph Rider on June 20th, 1970, and together they raised 3 beautiful children (Jennifer, Rebecca, Nicholas). Vicki worked in education for the Indiana and Colorado Public School System for many years early in life. She loved being an elementary school P.E. teacher and being able to influence the lives of younger generations through her humor, infectious smile, and huge heart. This same personality followed her throughout her treasured life where she touched so many people across the community with her sincerity and care for those that were fortunate enough to interact with her in whatever capacity. In 1970, Vicki and Joe packed up their things and relocated to Fort Myers to begin a business together and start a Family. In 1975, they gave birth to, Jennifer, their first child, and Vicki shifted her caring personality to raising their 3 children. Aside from being a wonderful Mom, Sister, Aunt and “Nana,” she had a passion for playing tennis, board and card games, puzzles, caring of animals and being with her Grandchildren. During her later years, Vicki found a renewed faith in God at New Hope Presbyterian Church and was a member of their choir. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling in her women’s league, playing bridge with her friends, and spending time watching her grandchildren play sports. Vicki is survived by her three children Jennifer (Jared) Hartley, Rebecca (Clay) Jordan and Nicholas Rider. Vicki had five grandchildren who were her world. Riley (13), Brooklyn (11) and Jace Hartley (8) and Brady (12) and Quinn Jordan (7). She also has 3 sisters, Sharon Foster, Mary Beth (Bruce) Patterson and Diane (Chuck) Coffman. She is preceded in death by her mother, Jayne Foster, father, Blake Foster and her brother, Robert Foster. A celebration of life will be held at 4pm on April 4th, 2023, at New Hope Presbyterian Church and a reception immediately following at the home of Jennifer and Jared Hartley.
