It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert Lewis Walker of Valley View, Texas. He was a great inspiration for many, particularly in the horse world. He died June 30, 2022 from a riding accident prior to his 84th birthday. Herb was born July 25, 1938 in Sikeston, Mo. He was a Vietnam veteran. In his early years, he was a bareback bronc rider in the rodeos and later team roped at the rodeos and he was a national champion team roper on the horse show circuit where he trained and showed Paint horses. He ran Walker Training Stables in Missouri, Georgia and Ohio and instructed and inspired many young and old horse enthusiasts. He was also an American Paint Horse Assoc. Judge for many years. In his later years, he enjoyed trail riding across the country and became a cattle rancher in Texas. He was a strong man of few words, admired for being a true cowboy, and lived by the code of the West. Herb is survived by wife, Sherri, daughters Charlene and Cissy (Arlene) Walker, and Marla Morris, his stepchildren Matt McEwan and Jill McEwan, and his beloved grandchildren Hunter, Henley, and Hollie McEwan and Madalyn and Joshua Ferigan.
