OBITUARY
Mary E. Wehle
April 17, 1954 – January 25, 2023

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Mary E. (Moarn) Wehle of Lockport, Illinois, passed away at the age of sixty-eight. Mary served her country as a parachute rigger in the US Navy and Navy Reserve and was incredibly proud to be a military veteran. She continued her time in service as a government civilian until her retirement in 2010. After retiring, Mary moved back to Lockport to help care for her sister Angela and continue serving her community. She was absolutely selfless and was known to all as a giver. Mary could talk to and make friends with anyone and everyone, and she was an avid reader and bargain hunter. She was always finding the perfect gift for someone and then misplacing it before Christmas, only to find it again later and send it to them as a "just because" present. She was a ladybug aficionado and possibly had the most extensive collection of ladybug knickknacks in the known universe.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Kristin and Jessica, her four siblings, Charlie, Hugh, Marti Gaige, and Angela, as well as her cat, Maggie. Instead of sending flowers, Mary's family asks that you consider donating in her name to the American Legion or the Women in Military Service Memorial. Her memorial service will occur at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Lockport at 1 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023. It will be a combined celebration with her brother, Donald L. "Lee" Moarn, who passed away on the same day.
