Obituary of Velma Esabel Bonacci
Velma Esabel Bonacci of Horseshoe Bay, TX passed away on September 20, 2022 three weeks shy of her 101st birthday. Velma was born in Castroville, TX on Oct. 12, 1921. She left a strong legacy with three beautiful, kind, accomplished granddaughters; Amber Hayes and husband Joseph Hayes of Leander, TX, RaeMarie Burke and her husband Craig Burke of Trabuco Canyon, CA, Angela Shipp and her husband Dave Shipp of Laguna Beach, CA; five great-grandchildren: Jack Hayes of Leander, TX, Ryan Hasser and his wife Anna Hasser, Paige Holton and her husband Daniel Holton, Wyatt Shipp, and Olivia Shipp all from California; one great-great-grandchild, Jay Hasser (with another on the way); a daughter-in-law that she dearly loved, Linda Bonacci of Seal Beach, CA; relatives all around Texas, countless friends across the United States, and her daughter, Shirleen Bonacci of Horseshoe Bay, TX. She was a professional dancer with her own dance studio when she was young with students the likes of Donald O’Connor, a girl scout leader, and president of the booster club when her children were in high school. She was always there for football, baseball, and basketball games, dance lessons and baton twirling competitions. Although she took up golf later in life, she won countless tournaments, had three holes-in-one, and ran a celebrity golf tournament for the American Cancer Society for several years raising tens of thousands of dollars to help find a cure. She loved her pets, laughter, her friends, and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bonacci and her son Jay Bonacci. A celebration of Velma’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 5, 2002 at the Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge Rd, Horseshoe Bay, TX 78657 with a reception immediately following.
