Obituary of Thelma Imogene Cluck
Thelma Cluck, beloved mother, aunt, and grandmother, was called to her heavenly home on January 31, 2023. She was born 91 years ago on February 5, 1932. Preceded in death were her parents, Elizabeth Cowger Roode and William Roode, multiple beloved family members in West Virginia and Ohio, her brothers Paul Roode and wife Geraldine of Diana, West Virginia, Kennedy Roode of Loveland, Colorado, and husband Morris Cluck of Manor, Texas. She was survived by her daughter Elizabeth Cordell, son Joseph Cordell and wife Debra, stepdaughter Carolyn Cordell, grandson Austin Cordell, sister-in-law Maureen Roode (Ken's widow), niece Linda Roode Hall, and nephews Mikael Roode, Edwin Roode, and Mark Roode. Born in Alton, WV and raised in Hacker Valley, WV, she moved to Austin, TX in 1954 to be near her brother Paul and his family at Fort Hood. Her last marriage, to Morris Cluck, lasted 42 years until his death in 2016. Thelma was a lover of nature, especially seashells, gardening, and wildlife. Puns and other off-beat comedy made her laugh with childlike glee. She took great pride in cooking holiday meals every year for the family as well as decorating her home with comfort and style. Her cooking ability was unmatched, no matter how hard we tried to duplicate her recipes. Thelma's talents ran from painting landscapes, to sewing and handcrafts, to growing houseplants and her beloved rosebushes. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to Alzheimer's Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org. A Celebration of Life service is to be announced.
