Obituary of Randall Everett Moss
Randall E. Moss, age 72, of Lockhart, Texas passed away on May 21, 2023, after experiencing heart failure. Randy was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 19, 1950, to parents Everett and Delpha (Allen) Moss. He graduated from Wichita High School North and went to Garden City Community College on a football scholarship. He later completed both a bachelor’s degree in Ecology and a PhD in Biology from the University of Kansas. Randy was an Aquatic Biologist and spent his career researching and protecting rivers, estuaries, and various fish species. He worked for the Oklahoma Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Randy met his wife, Linda, in 1985 and they shared many happy times together. They travelled throughout Mexico, Central America, Canada, and the United States, always seeking out natural wonders or Mayan ruins. For many years, Randy volunteered for Caldwell County 4-H and the Texas Endurance Riders Association, where he enjoyed helping with the hobbies of his son and wife. Randy is survived by his wife, Linda Laack, of Lockhart, TX; son Elijah Moss (Kassandra Priest) of Kyle, TX; brothers Larry Moss (Lynda Campbell) of Courtenay, B.C., Canada, and Duane Moss (LaDonna) of Lexington, SC; sister DeeAnn Moss of Columbia, SC; and nephews Pascal Moss of Courtenay, B.C., Canada, and Brad Standiford of Lexington, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Lori Joye. His family and friends will remember Randy fondly for his dry wit, and his brusque, but kind-hearted nature.
