Glenn Lee Urban

Glenn L Urban of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on March 13, 2023 at the age of 81. He was born on March 29, 1941 in Winner, SD to Frank Jr and Blanche Urban. The family moved and eventually settled in Grand Island, NE. He graduated from Grand Island High School and the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He married Sherry Sue Fondren in 1967 in Nocona, Texas. After service as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, he and wife moved to Old Hickory, TN, where Glenn was employed by DuPont as a mechanical engineer. They moved with DuPont to Jonesboro, AR, and Round Rock, TX. Glenn retired from DuPont as Director of Human Resources. After retirement, Glenn also worked for Baldwin Piano in Fayetteville, AR, and American Desk/Artco-Bell in Temple, TX. Glenn was an avid hunter, an enthusiastic gardener and expert pecan tree grafter. He loved and respected all animals. He was an excellent bartender and a master at cards, crossword puzzles, the jumble and sudoku. Music was a huge part of his life, starting with school and church choirs then high school band, attending multiple concerts in Nashville and always supporting his grandchildren’s musical interests. He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Sherry Fondren Urban, his parents, Frank Jr and Blanche Urban, and his beloved sister, Ann Urban Michalski. He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Trey) Oberpriller and son, Andrew (Leanne) Urban. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jake and Anna Thompson, Kyle Urban, Danielle and Samantha Oberpriller, three great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces and sister, Arlene (Bob) Hanna. The family would like to thank Alan and Canay Riorden, Russell and Patty Newell, Jared and Felisha Long, Jim and Sally Zimmerman, At Home Health Care and Hospice Austin for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.
