He was born October 3, 1939 formerly Cottage Grove, MN to Michael William and Mary Louise (Nollett) O’Boyle. After completing college Michael followed in his father and brothers footsteps by serving in the military in a time of war. His dad served in WWI, his brothers in WWII, and Michael during the Vietnam War. Michael was a radar navigator for the B52’s and retired after a 20 year career. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 oak leaf clusters, and the air medal with 7 oak leaf clusters while flying in a war zone and other awards. Michael was proud to serve in the military and all three of his children followed in the family tradition by serving in the military (Navy and Army respectively). Michael enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He paid tribute to his Irish roots returning to Ireland and kissing the blarney stone.
A private graveside ceremony will take place at Georgia National Military Cemetery in Canton, GA later this year. A funeral mass will be held on 30 April at ST. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls, WI with family and friends. A traditional Irish wake will follow the funeral mass with memories, food and drink to celebrate the life of Michal. The family suggest memorials in memory of Michael be made to ST Paul Catholic Church, Flowood, MS where he was a parishioner for many years. Also, raise your glass to Mike every ST Patrick’s Day and think of him and his brothers.
The family was cared for by Neptune Society Cremation.
