Obituary of Gloria W. Smith
Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend of many, Gloria Fay Smith (Weller), died near her home after a short but mostly painless battle with cancer on June 25, 2022, at the age of 84. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Lakewood and Denver, CO. Gloria is survived by her son, John Kirk Smith and mother of his children Kendy, their children, John Garrett Smith and Mallory Ann Smith; and by her daughter Tracy Lynn Fehr and her husband Chris, their children, Kylee Christine Martell and her husband Bret, and Kameron Christian Fehr; and by her two siblings Gail Louise Bush and Gordon Stewart Weller. She is predeceased by her husband John Lindsey Smith; her parents; and her brother Wayne Edward Weller. Gloria was born in Denver on May 4, 1938, to Stewart Weller and Helen Macklem. She graduated from East High School in 1956. Soon after, she began her career, working for the Federal Government and General Services Administration. On March 18, 1960, she married Lindsey, in Denver, CO. While living in Green Mountain and over the next 8 years (1964 and 1968), the couple would have two children. And after being a fantastic mother, 30 years of working, she retired with full benefits at a grade 12 Real Estate Specialist. And awesome and enjoyable 30 years of retirement before this unfortunate passing. When someone has a life path such as Gloria’s, it is hard to focus on just one or two things that grabbed her attention or where she would be considered well-versed. Being a parent and grandparent was the mission for most of her adult life. Always put together well in public, she was also quick with an educated opinion on many topics. With strong determination in all parts of life, she was more than able to take care of herself, and never seemed to tire. Socially, she could be comfortable in nearly any room, and most would say she was an extrovert and quick to laugh. She was a Christian and believed Jesus rose from the dead and was her Savior. She is with Him. A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for July 18, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm. Location will be at the Stone House 2900 S. Estes St. Lakewood Stone House. A website has also been organized for all to share thoughts, photos, memories, etc. Please add your favorite photos or stories that all can share about our fantastic Gloria!
