Dr. Louis A. Schmidt II M.D.

Born in Cleveland Ohio, Louis graduated from Shaw High School. He received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University before entering medical school at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1960 with his M.D. He joined the US Navy, serving as a Lieutenant and a flight surgeon. He began his 54 year career as a n anesthesiologist at Presbyterian Hospital, establishing Albuquerque Anesthesia. He was with that group until 1984, then went on to practice in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio, returning to Albuquerque for his retirement. Louis enjoyed hunting, audio visual arts, singing in the church men's choir, and was an avid sports fan, with a special devotion to the Buckeyes. His quick wit and humor was endeared by many. He was preceded in death by his Father, Louis, Mother, Aileen, Siblings, Aileen, Jacqueline, Ian and one son, Louis III. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, children Leslie, Erica, and her husband Trevor. His grandchildren, Matthew, Chelsea, Tess, and Sutton, and great grandchildren, Skyler, Trace, and Kyler. As per his wishes, Louis was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
